January 2023 came a new phase for me. After waiting all through 2022 for my passport, a new job, and a chance to leave my home country for the first time. January 2023, felt like my prayers were answered.
Starting the new year with a new job was one part but most importantly being called to pick up my passport along with getting my transcript on the same day. was the beginning of a new phase. Finally, I could apply for my master’s.
Honestly, if not for COVID-19 which affected my academic plans, I probably would have japa as my Nigerian people would say, after graduating from University.
Well, I am still grateful for the time spent after University. Not only did it give me ample time to spend with my parents, but it also helped me redirect my focus on what career path to take and the necessary experience and networks I needed to embark on this new journey I had started.
With so much joy, I reached out to my study abroad consultant I had earlier spoken to in February 2022, to continue our discussion from where we stopped. I sent in my documents and of course, my application process began.
On March 21, 2023, I got an email that made me scream. I had been accepted to one of the Universities I had applied to and was granted a scholarship to top it up.
Definitely, it was a day I will continue to remember like it was yesterday but was I ready for this phase? Yes, it is a dream come true for me but then was it something I and my family were going to scale through so easily, considering the economy at that time? I thought about this and more.
Just at that moment, a bible verse came to mind – Isaiah 43:19; Behold, I am doing a new thing; Now, it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” I held on to these words and poured my anxieties to God and He did not fail me.
We went on with the process and trust me, it was not so easy but God came through for me and my family at every point we needed a miracle.
August 2023 ended with the good news I had long prayed and waited for; I got my student visa to study MSc Digital and Strategic Marketing at the University of Bradford, England.
